Oneida Communications and Diverse Communications Select Net to Net Technologies' IP DSLAMs for Video over DSL Rollout
Key members of Western Illinois Video group lead the way for neighboring telcos
PORTSMOUTH, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 21, 2004--Net to Net Technologies, the leading provider of Ethernet-based IP Broadband Access and Transport solutions, today announced that Oneida Communications and Diverse Communications, Inc., of Illinois have selected Net to Net's IP DSLAMs for their Video over DSL deployments throughout their service areas. Both companies will be using Net to Net's central office IP DSLAMs in addition to ADSL MicroDSLAMs in remote terminal locations.
As part of the rollouts, the companies will install new ADSL2+ modules and new BSX8000-5 uplink modules in Net to Net IP DSLAMs, which will provide a fully non-blocking video architecture that will scale to support up to 576 subscribers in a single chassis. Each subscriber will have the ability to receive up to 5 digital television signals in addition to high-speed Internet service. Native POTS and phone service will also be delivered over the ADSL2+ line.
"Oneida Communications and Diverse Communications are great examples of rural telephone companies leading the charge for Video over DSL deployments," stated Ken Latimer, chairman and CEO of Net to Net. "Oneida and Diverse are representative of many of our existing telco customers that will benefit from the ease of use, advanced quality of service features and non-blocking video architecture provided by our equipment."
Oneida Communications and Diverse Communications are both part of the Western Illinois Video (WIV) group, which was established on January 1, 2004, by eight telephone companies and cooperatives. WIV was formed to allow its members to offer extended services to their customers. Diverse will be receiving its video content from a new digital Video Headend owned by WIV supplied by TUT Systems. The system will be maintained by Oneida Communications, who will distribute the video content to other member companies using Net to Net equipment.
"We selected the Net to Net equipment for many reasons, including its plug and play capability, ease of use, quality of service and superior handling of video streams," stated George Wirt, general manager of Diverse Communications, Inc. "We're very excited to begin our Video over DSL deployment, and we're very pleased to partner with Net to Net in this venture."
"Net to Net has a great solution for Video over DSL," stated Dave Olson, general manager of Oneida Communications. "Their ease of use, quality of service capabilities and Video over DSL support is unmatched."
Net to Net Technologies will be demonstrating its Video over DSL capabilities at Supercomm 2004 in Chicago, June 21-24, at booth #26906, and also in the Tut Systems booth, #13520.
